MEET DR. SIMS
Nathan Sims, DDS
Formerly practicing dentistry in Oregon, Dr. Nathan Sims, along with his wife Carrie, and children, Jaxon, Stella and Leo have recently made Brimfield their home.
Dr. Sims understands the role good oral hygiene can make on overall health. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology before pursuing his doctorate at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He is heavily involved in continuing his education in the field of dentistry to provide the best overall care to patients while incorporating the most effective techniques and equipment. Dr. Sims is a member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Akron Dental Society and the Brimfield Chamber of Commerce.
When Dr. Sims is not serving his patients he loves to spend time with his wife and three kids. He enjoys mountain biking, outdoor activities, and is actively involved with his church. He loves meeting new people and exploring new places. He spent time in Brazil where he learned Portuguese while providing service to those in need.
Dr. Sims advises to not stress the small things in life. As the great Tom Petty sang, “Most things I worry about never happen anyway.”

PROPHYLAXIS (CLEANINGS)
Semiannual professional teeth cleanings are key in preventing gum disease and other serious oral problems. With a highly-trained team of Registered Dental Hygienists, Sims Family Dentistry offers gentle and effective cleanings along with comprehensive periodontal exams and treatment.
PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY
With three children of his own, Dr. Sims is wholly committed to providing preventive and curative pediatric dental care, which is imperative for keeping children cavity free. Sims Family Dentistry prides itself in introducing children, no matter how young, to the dental experience in a fun and enjoyable manner.

Dr. Sims is a top-rated dentist providing a complete array of general dentistry services to patients throughout Portage, Summit and Stark counties. Dr. Sims’ extensive list of services includes fillings, crowns, extractions, root canals, bridges and dentures.

Carrie
Practice Manager
Carrie has recently taken a more active role managing the practice together with Dr. Sims. While she feels blessed to have spent so many years at home with their 3 children, she’s loving the time she now spends at the office as well. Fun fact: This isn’t the first time Carrie and Dr. Sims have worked together. They started off their early married years back in 2001 working together at Outback Steakhouse. Carrie enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking, working in the yard, and serving with the youth organization in her church. Carrie genuinely loves people and is beyond grateful for the amazing staff and patients that truly make coming to work something to look forward to.

Erica
Insurance Coordinator
Erica has worked in the dental field since 2006 and has experience with all of the inner workings of a dental office. She is originally from Brimfield, Ohio and is very excited to be working in her hometown. When not at work, Erica enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews, cooking and baking, traveling, and drinking coffee with friends and family. She is also very active in her church, serving where needed and singing on the worship team.

Katie
Scheduling Coordinator
Katie graduated from Kent State University in 2020 with a major in biology, minor in chemistry, and concentration in pre-dentistry. She is currently applying to dental schools, and hopes to one day open her own dental practice. In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Shawna
Dental Assistant
Shawna graduated from East Canton High School in 2006. In 2008 she graduated from Stark State College from their Dental Assisting program. After spending several years chairside, she returned to Stark State College and graduated in 2018 with her EFDA License. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her family, especially her daughters, and go camping.

Dental Hygienist
Cathy graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Dental Hygiene degree. Go Bucks! When not in the office, she loves spending time with family, traveling and trying to play golf.

Dental Hygienist
Emma is one of our dental hygienists. She grew up in Florida where she completed her dental hygiene degree at Pasco-Hernando State College. When not working or spending time with her family, Emma loves to explore new hiking trails in the summer and hibernate in the winter. She encourages patients to remember that life is good, be happy.

Jeanne
Dental Hygienist
Jeanne graduated from Youngstown State University with an Associate degree in dental hygiene and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Kent State University. She enjoys cooking, reading, gardening, running, playing cards, and traveling. Her husband and 3 children are among her favorite people, and she’s actively involved in her church, volunteering as a Sunday school teacher and lector for over 9 years and counting. She is committed to providing quality care for her patients, working to help them achieve and maintain optimal oral health.

INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT
Sims Family Dentistry accepts most major dental insurances. If requested, we are happy to assist in confirming that Dr. Sims participates in your network, however ultimately it is the patient’s responsibility to verify participation. Typically, your employer can help in this area. Please note that personal information (social security number, date of birth, etc.) may be required to verify insurance.
It is our pleasure to assist in maximizing your insurance benefits by electronically completing and submitting your claims and/or treatment pre-determinations. Because we communicate electronically with insurance we will determine the estimated amount of co-pay and/or deductible due at time services are rendered. Please understand that all co-payments, etc. are estimates based on information available to us from your insurance carrier.
